Not the most scenic route but functional, autoroute via Munich meant we were at destination in just over 4 hours. We decided to camp at Waging am See which although just 30kms from Salzburg is still in Germany.
Although the site is large it has a good bar, brilliant shop, is right on the lake and has its own beach. The water is not too cold and anyway is very refreshing given the current temperatures (circa 30C).
