Some 30+ years ago I became pals with another Barclays worker on the island of Jersey. In 1978 we planned a two week 'blast' through Europe in his Alfasud Ti (heavens above I drove a Triumph 1300 not cool). At the time we were both unattached but by June he was going out with a local girl and myself with another mainlander 'import'. So we decided to take them with us.
As it happens both couples got married and remain so to this day. He is a petrolhead and is on his 3rd Caterham and still lives in Jersey. Anyway as a result of me getting active on LinkedIn I found him and discovered that he would be doing a driving tour of Europe which co-incidentally meant he would be routing W2E via Colmar, France on 2nd July whilst we would be routing N2S.
So after much management at roughly 2pm at Breisach am Rhein we met up. NB his wife was not with him this time, instead another petrolhead from Yorkshire who they met on a similar tour of USA some years ago.
